Running Is The Most Difficult Activity - 1122 Words

It is the simplest of movements, running is both physically simple and the most difficult activity. Although, running is tiring and painful I run regularly because of the positive health benefits. While my body adjusts to the challenges of gravel paths, sand and steep inclines, running sets my mind free. Free of any upcoming tasks, or stress, running allows me to reset my mind. Running is about making new friends in the running community, and knowing that I have accomplished something on any given day. Consequently, running is beneficial physically and psychologically. The biggest reward I get from running is the physical aspect, running four to five times a week helps me maintain my weight and stay healthy. For example, running helps my body use its fuel more efficiently, helping me to maintain my ideal weight. Evidence seems to suggest that regular exercise, running in particular has health benefits that extends well beyond any prescription. â€Å"Running modest amounts each week -- less than 51 minutes, fewer than 6 miles, slower than 6 miles per hour, or only one to two times -- was still associated with solid health benefits compared to no running, the researchers reported in the August 5 issue of the Journal of the American College of Cardiology.
